As a non-profit, the OSA offers a full range of specialized art courses for all ages at two locations in the greater Ottawa area, in the ByWard Market and within the Shenkman Arts Centre, continuing to provide the community with the opportunity for creative expression, development, and growth. In addition to art courses for children, teens, and adults, the OSA’s programs have grown to include a visiting artist program, an artist residency program, professional exhibitions in galleries (hosting solo and groups shows by local, national and international artists, both on and off-campus), an Arts Fundamentals Certificate (non-credit), a one-year Portfolio Certificate, and a 3-year Fine Arts Diploma. The Outreach Program is dedicated to providing free, community-based visual art classes to children and youth who face difficult economic or social circumstances, and have limited access to the many benefits of a structured creative environment. We remove all economic barriers, no enrolment fees, no art supply costs, and no transportation as we send an artist instructor directly to the neighbourhood at a local community house or community centre.
